Bergamot is a fragrant citrus whose essential oil is used worldwide for perfumes and cosmetics production; the fruit is also used to produce beverage and sweets. The 80% of bergamot’s world production take place in Calabria. Cedar is a citrus tree whose fruit is widely used for the extraction of essence, while the candied cedar is the basic product for many traditional products, and it is used also for liquor, jams and syrups. In the so called “Coast of cedar”, located in the northern Calabrian cost overlooking the Tyrrhenian sea, the production of cedar fruit well known all over the world for their quality takes place. Clementines of Calabria PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) are a cross between orange and mandarin fruits with a very high rate of Vitamin C and minerals. The Clementines of Calabria PGI, thanks to their taste and quality are usually consumed in their natural state but they can also be widely used for ice cream, juice and jams.
